Brian has been a technology journalist since 2000, reporting from Silicon Valley, New York, and Boston. During his time covering Silicon Valley for the Associated Press, he reported on telecom and technology, served as the national technology correspondent, and was the technology and media editor, overseeing a staff of 10 reporters.
He has been executive editor and editor-at-large at MIT Technology Review, where he oversaw the November/December 2017 special issue on artificial intelligence and wrote and edited a wide range of stories on the social impact of technology. He is an experienced moderator, interviewing thought leaders from the stage at EmTech MIT.
Brian was a Knight Fellow in Science Journalism at MIT and has been an adjunct journalism instructor at Boston University. In addition to being a contributing editor at MIT Technology Review, he is the editor of NEO.LIFE.
Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
