Laurel Ruma is editorial director for the US at MIT Technology Review Insights where she works with clients to produce and deliver sponsored content, as well as engage senior executives and moderate highly interactive discussions and meetings.
Laurel has more than 15 years of experience working in the technology field. Most recently, she was the director of custom services at O’Reilly Media. In her long career at O’Reilly, Laurel held many roles, from acquisitions editor for dozens of technology books, including the best-selling A Manager’s Path and Cooking for Geeks, to director of author relations. Laurel has chaired more than half a dozen O’Reilly technology conferences on topics ranging from the future of work to geospatial technologies to open government.
Prior to her career at O’Reilly, Laurel was an editor at various technology consulting firms in the Boston area, including Forrester Research. Laurel lives in the Boston area and holds a bachelor’s in English from Union College, Schenectady, NY.
